The Legal Details

1. Introduction

Welcome to Ask Site ("Ask Site", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using our website (https://asksite.co) and related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. These terms cover the use of our website and the services we provide.

If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Ask Site is a SaaS platform that enables you to create AI-powered Q&A sites from your content (videos, articles, and documents). The Service provides tools for content import, question answering, site management, analytics, and related features. The Service is provided on a subscription basis with different plan tiers.

3. Account Registration and Eligibility

a) Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.

b) Account Accuracy: You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update such information to keep it accurate, current, and complete.

c) Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

d) Team Accounts: If you create a team account, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.

4. Content and Data Ownership

a) Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to content you import into the Service (videos, articles, documents, etc.) ("Your Content"). By uploading content, you grant Ask Site a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process, store, transcribe, analyze, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service.

b) Platform Data

Questions asked on your sites, answers generated, usage analytics, and user interactions are considered "Platform Data." You grant Ask Site perpetual rights to use Platform Data in aggregate and anonymized form for service improvement, analytics, machine learning, and research purposes. You retain rights to access and export your site's Platform Data at any time.

c) Your Responsibilities and Warranties

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions for all content you import
  • Your Content does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights
  • Your Content complies with all applicable laws and regulations
  • You will only use content that you own, have permission to use, or is used under fair use principles
  • You are solely responsible for all content displayed on your Ask Site-powered sites

d) Content Liability

You agree to indemnify and hold Ask Site harmless from any claims arising from Your Content or your use of the Service. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms or applicable law.

e) User-Generated Content

You acknowledge that questions and interactions on your sites are generated by third-party users. You are responsible for moderating and managing content on your sites. Ask Site provides tools but is not responsible for user-generated content on your sites.

5. Subscription Plans and Billing

a) Plan Tiers

Ask Site offers multiple subscription plans (Hobby, Creator, Pro, and Enterprise) with different features, limits, and pricing as described at https://asksite.co/#pricing.

b) Billing Cycles

Subscriptions are billed on a monthly or annual basis, as selected during signup. Annual plans are billed in full at the time of subscription and then annually on your subscription anniversary date. Usage limits (questions, processing hours, etc.) reset monthly regardless of your billing cycle.

c) Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By providing payment information, you authorize Ask Site to charge your payment method for all fees incurred.

d) Automatic Renewal

Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date.

e) Cancellation and Downgrading

You may cancel your paid subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period, and your account will revert to the free Hobby plan. Your sites, content, and data remain intact but will be subject to the free plan's usage limits. No refunds will be provided for partial billing periods.

To permanently delete your account and all associated data, you must explicitly request account deletion by contacting support@asksite.co.

f) Refund Policy

We do not offer refunds for subscription fees except as required by law or at our sole discretion. If you are dissatisfied with the Service, please cancel before your next billing date.

g) Plan Changes

You may upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately and you will be charged a prorated amount. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle.

h) Free Plan Limitations

The Hobby (free) plan has usage limitations as specified in the plan details. We reserve the right to enforce these limits or terminate free accounts that violate fair use.

i) Overages and Usage Limits

Each plan includes specific limits (sites, questions per month, processing hours, etc.). If you exceed these limits:

  • Your service may be temporarily restricted until limits reset or you upgrade
  • We may contact you to upgrade your plan
  • Repeated or excessive overages may result in account suspension

j) Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers. Price changes will take effect at your next renewal date.

6. Service Usage and Restrictions

a) Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service to violate any laws or regulations
  • Import content you don't have rights to use
  • Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm another person
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems
  • Use the Service to distribute malware, spam, or malicious content
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service using automated means
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
  • Resell or redistribute the Service without authorization
  • Use the Service to compete with Ask Site

b) API Usage (Paid Plans Only)

If your plan includes API access:

  • You must comply with our API documentation and rate limits
  • API keys are confidential and must not be shared
  • Excessive API usage may result in rate limiting or suspension
  • APIs are provided "as-is" and may change with notice

c) Custom Domains

If your plan includes custom domains:

  • You are responsible for domain registration and DNS configuration
  • You represent that you have rights to use the domain
  • We reserve the right to disable domains that violate these terms

d) Fair Use

We expect reasonable use of the Service consistent with your plan limits. Abuse of the Service or attempts to circumvent usage limits may result in account suspension or termination.

7. Service Availability and Modifications

a) Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service is provided "as-is" without warranties of uptime or availability.

b) Maintenance

We may perform scheduled or emergency maintenance that temporarily disrupts the Service. We will provide reasonable notice when possible.

c) Service Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with reasonable notice to paid subscribers.

d) Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the Service.

8. Data Collection and Privacy

  • Payment information is processed by Stripe (we do not store credit card details)

9. Intellectual Property

a) Ask Site IP

The Service, including all software, designs, trademarks, and technology, is owned by Ask Site and protected by intellectual property laws. These terms do not grant you any ownership rights to the Service.

b) Trademarks

"Ask Site" and related logos are trademarks of Ask Site. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission, except as provided in Section 10.

c) Feedback

If you provide feedback or suggestions about the Service, you grant Ask Site the right to use such feedback without compensation or attribution.

10. Branding and Attribution

a) Powered By Badge (Free Plan)

Free plan users must display a "Powered by Ask Site" badge on their sites. Removing or obscuring this badge violates these terms and may result in account suspension.

b) Removing Branding (Paid Plans)

Paid plans (Creator and above) may remove the "Powered by Ask Site" badge as specified in their plan features.

11. Copyright and DMCA Compliance

We respect intellectual property rights and expect users to do the same.

a) Copyright Infringement

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, please contact us at support@asksite.co with:

  • Description of the copyrighted work
  • Location of the infringing content (URL)
  • Your contact information
  • A statement of good faith belief
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate

b) Counter-Notification

If your content was removed due to a DMCA notice and you believe it was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notification.

c) Repeat Infringers

We reserve the right to terminate accounts of repeat copyright infringers.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

a) THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS-IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED

b) WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES

c) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM

d) WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • User-generated content on your sites
  • Accuracy of AI-generated answers
  • Loss of data due to user error
  • Third-party services (Stripe, Clerk, AssemblyAI, etc.)
  • Unauthorized access due to compromised credentials

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Ask Site harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your Content and any claims it infringes third-party rights
  • Your violation of these terms
  • Content on your Ask Site-powered sites

14. Disclaimers

a) AI-Generated Content

Answers generated by the Service are created by AI and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or inappropriate content. You are responsible for reviewing and moderating content on your sites.

b) Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services (YouTube, Stripe, etc.). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of these services.

c) No Professional Advice

The Service is not intended to provide legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Content generated should not be relied upon as such.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

a) Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to conflict of law principles.

b) Dispute Resolution

Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the United Kingdom.

c) Informal Resolution

Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at support@asksite.co to attempt informal resolution.

16. Updates to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to users via:

  • Email to your registered address
  • Notice in the Service
  • Update to the "Last updated" date

Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
